Police arraign 3 men for allegedly receiving stolen vehicles

The police on Thursday arraigned three men—Kazeem Badiru, 54; Monsuru Iyadunni, 47; and Adeniran Adewumi, 39—before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly receiving stolen vehicle
The defendants, whose house addresses were not provided, are being tried on charges bordering on conspiracy and receiving stolen property. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor Insp Olagoke Adegbenro, informed the court that the offences were committed in October 2024 at the Moniya area of Ibadan.
Adegbenro alleged that the defendants knowingly received three stolen vehicles, worth millions, from one Muritala Akinniyi. The stolen vehicles reportedly belonged to Mr Wasiu Adetunji, Sylvester Guobapia, and Muhammed Aliu.
The prosecutor alleged that Badiru received stolen vehicle worth N6.5 million, Iyadunni received the one worth N3.5 million while Adewumi received the one worth N1,850,000.
He said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 427 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair granted Badiru bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties, Iyadunni bail in the sum of N1 million, two sureties and Adewumi in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sums.
She adjourned the case until April 8 for mention.
