Strike suspension: Ibadan Polytechnic likely resumes exams on Monday

The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TPI), will restart its full academic activities and is likely to resume its examinations on Monday, our correspondent reports.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Soladoye Adewole, disclosed this while speaking with our reporter in Ibadan on Friday.

This follows Thursday’s suspension of the strike embarked upon by five Oyo State-owned tertiary institutions over the non-payment of minimum wages and other arrears.

Adewole said it was unlikely for examinations to resume on Friday because the students, many of whom had stayed away from school due to the strike, needed to be informed.

“I know that the Examinations Committee will expedite action and probably will resume examinations on Monday,” Adewole said.

Meanwhile, a lecturer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said not many people, especially the students, were aware the strike had been called off.

The lecturer said the examinations would likely resume on Monday, a week after it was stopped by the strike.

It was observed the presence of a few people and low vehicular movement on campus on Friday.
