Sen. Mukhail Abiru (Lagos-East) has urged Muslims to use the period of Ramadan to reflect on their collective advancement and that of the larger society.

Sen. Abiru made the call during a Ramadan lecture he organised for Muslim constituents in Ikorodu, according to a statement issued by his media aide, Mr Enitan Olukotun, on Friday in Lagos.

The lawmaker said the gathering had fostered a stronger bond among his constituents and encouraged dialogue on Islamic values.

Abiru, represented by Dr Saheed Ibikunle, Special Adviser on Constituency matters, advised Muslims not to relent on their devotions

“This year’s lecture series has served as more than just a forum for religious discussion.

“It has been a veritable platform for the Muslim community to reflect on the collective advancement of Muslims and the society at large.

“Let us continue to support one another, extend kindness to the needy, and pray for the peace and prosperity of our dear nation, Nigeria,” he said.

Ealier, Sheikh Sefiudeen Olowooribi, Chief Imam of Ikorodu Division and Sheikh Yahya Oshoala, As-Samadaani, of Oriwu Mosque, commended the lawmaker for organising the Ramadan lecture across the division.

According to the Islamic clerics, the lectures have fostered unity, and deepened peaceful co-existence among the residents

Olowooribi said the lawmaker had a great pedigree in Ikorodu following in his father’s footsteps, who he described as a lover of Islam.

“We should thank God for Ikorodu. He has done really well. May he not be weary,” Olowooribi said.

Also, Sheikh Muritador Amokomowo, the guest lecturer, while speaking on the theme, “Unity as Essential Tool For Community Development”, urged unity among Muslims.

Amokomowo, who is Chief Imam at Ayangburen Palace, stressed that Almighty God expects Muslims to collectively push for causes that would advance political, socio-economic interests of all faithful.

It was reported that Sen. Abiru Ramadan Lecture Series took place across the 16 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas of Lagos East.

Muslim Ummah, numbering about 1,500, attended the grand finale at the Ikorodu Eid-el prayer ground, Ota-Ona, on Thursday.

Ramadan packages from Senator Abiru were shared to all attendees.
