Police Command in Osun on Friday says it has put all the necessary things in place to ensure residents have a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

SP Adeoye Adeola, the Command’s Spokesperson, gave the assurance in a statement on Friday.

“Police in Osun, in its unwavering commitment to carry out its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property, has mapped out security strategies to ensure peaceful celebration during the Eid-el-Fitr Festival.

“The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abba, has ordered effective and extensive deployment of policemen as well as necessary logistics to strategic points along the highways, worship centres and all nooks and crannies of the state,” he said

Adeola said all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers as well as heads of Tactical units and other Police formations in the state had also been directed by the CP to ensure no breach of peace in the state.

“Officers have been instructed to ensure that no breach of the peace of any kind in their areas and not allow criminals occupy the public space in their various areas of jurisdiction.

“Residents are also enjoined to be law-abiding and go about their legitimate businesses without entertaining fear of insecurity,” he said

He, however, urged parents and guardians to advise their children and wards to refrain from acts capable of causing public disorder.

Adeola also enjoined residents to maintain utmost vigilance and report any suspicious movements to security agencies as they celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr.

He said residents could reach the police command on: 08039537995, 08123823981 and 08075872433, to volunteer information on suspicious activities or security threats in their areas.
