The serene town of Iyin-Ekiti, headquarters of Araromi Local Council Development Area of Ekiti State, came alive on Thursday as Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, was treated to a grand reception.

It was reported that the reception was described by residents as a moment of pride and inspiration.

Our correspondent also reported that the celebration initiated by traditional, community and religious leaders as well as students, artisans, hunters and politicians of diverse interests paid tributes to Bamidele.

It was organised by the community to honour the accomplishments as well as appreciate impacts made so far by Bamidele since becoming the Senate Leader.

At the top of this was the recent approval by the Federal Government of a new Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences for Eyin community influenced by Bamidele.

The grand reception was also to reflect on the leadership qualities of Bamidele and appreciate his ideals rooted in his service to the community.

According to the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaiye, Bamidele had become a shining example of what it meant to lead with love for one’s community in matters regarding development, progress, integrity, compassion, and vision for the people.

He described the trajectory of the Senate Leader as a story of resilience and unwavering dedication to the Ekiti people and Nigeria as a whole.

“He was shaped by values of community, hard work and empathy, including principles that have guided his life’s work.

“We as a community that produced him are glad to note that he has risen to national prominence not only as a politician, but also as a servant-leader committed to improving the lives of the people,” he said.

He added that Bamidele had turned Iyin-Ekiti into a huge construction site with many landmark projects.

He cited the projects to include construction of Iyin-Ilawe road, construction of the road network within the community, installation of solar lights as well as construction of market stalls with modern facilities.

He said Bamidele’s emergence as Senate Leader was a testament to his capacity for transformative leadership.

According to him, Bamidele brought a unique sense of integrity to impactful national service.

He said since assuming office, Bamidele had addressed the challenges of poverty and unemployment among his constituents and had reshaped the narrative of general poverty reduction in the country.

He listed such impactful programmes of Bamidele to include skills development, entrepreneurship support, and financial empowerment by ensuring that many Ekiti people have basic tools to work with.

Others included providing several other constituents with opportunities for a better future.

These support, he said, also included empowering graduates and small businesses, empowering women and creating opportunities for the youth

He has also been at the forefront of responding swiftly to emergency situations, whether caused by conflict or natural occurrences, through ensuring that those in dire need of one assistance or the other, received timely assistance,” he said.

Similarly, principal coordinators of the street procession and carnival-like event, Hon. Israel Adesokan, and Dr Titilayo Akinola, had commended Bamidele for his spirit of statesmanship and service delivery to the state and the community

Bamidele, in his remarks, thanked the traditional ruler and the entire Iyin-Ekiti people for the reception.

He said it was not just a celebration, but a call to further service.

Bamidele stressed that he never took the kind gesture of the ruler and the community for granted.

He said he would focus more on aligning efforts with Gov Biodun Oyebanji and other Ekiti leaders to address the state’s challenges.
