Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has called for a strengthened partnership between the public and private sectors to ensure the long-term viability of Nigeria’s art industry.

Musawa made this call at the International Art Fair held at the Ecobank Pan African Centre (EPAC) in Lagos on Monday.

She expressed her admiration for the diverse artistic expressions showcased, including paintings, photography and sculptures.

The minister highlighted the benefits of collaborative efforts for the nation’s creative economy.

She commended Ecobank Nigeria, the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), Soto Gallery, and other sponsors for their role in providing a crucial platform for emerging artists to exhibit their talent.

Musawa pledged the ministry’s support for initiatives that foster value creation within the creative industry, assuring attendees of continued partnerships and encouragement.

She emphasised the importance of providing young artists with the necessary exposure and support to contribute to the nation’s economic growth.

Musawa said, “This event beautifully reflects the richness of Nigeria’s emerging talent and creative ideology.

“It serves as a bridge to the future, drawing inspiration from our artistic heritage.

“This international Art Fair showcases a powerful evolution of storytelling and I am proud to witness the full expression of young Nigerian artists.”

The minister underscored the necessity of government involvement and active participation for the sustainable development of the art sector.

Her presence at the fair’s second edition, she noted, signified the administration’s commitment to elevating Nigeria’s creative industry on the global stage.

She assured that the government would provide comprehensive support to position the industry appropriately within the international community.
