Travel Agent docked for alleged visa fraud

A Travel Agent, Segun Ilemobayo, 34, has been docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan for an alleged visa fraud.

Ilemobayo was on Thursday charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.

He however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal told the court that the defendant committed the offences between September and October, 2024, at Ojoo, Ibadan.

Lawal alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained the sum of N6, 975,000 from one Mrs Osuji, under the pretext of procuring a working visa of Luxemboury for her husband but failed to do so.

He said the defendant rather converted the money to his personal use.

He added that the offences contravene Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million and two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until May 21, for hearing.
