The Lagos State Government on Friday said it had prioritised the welfare and safety of its road cleaners.

The state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, gave the assurance at the ongoing 2025 Lagos State Ministerial Press Briefing in Ikeja.

The briefing is for each ministry to give account of its stewardship in the past one year, in commemoration of the second year of the second term in office, of the state Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“We have prioritised the welfare of our cleaners who work tirelessly to keep Lagos State clean.

“In fact, we have taken them off the highways in order to keep them safe from reckless drivers.

“We appreciate them, we care for them, we also try to protect them. We have deployed mechanised tools to clean the highways.

“They are well paid although they are ad-hoc staff,” Wahab said.

He gave the assurance that the administration of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu was truthful and empathetic.
