The City Boy Movement, a youth-based supporters’ group of President Bola Tinubu, on Monday pledged to mobilise five million youths to support his possible re-election bid.

The Director-General of the movement, Mr Francis Shoga, disclosed this during the “Stakeholders’ Engagement for Lagos Youth on Understanding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Initiatives”.

It was reported that the event, which attracted scores of youth leaders and coordinators, was held at Maryland, Ikeja.

According to Shoga, many youths remain unaware of the President’s initiatives and his efforts to place Nigeria on a sustainable development path.

“The gathering today is to educate young Nigerians about President Tinubu’s initiatives and the importance of supporting him again in 2027.

“We want young people to understand Mr President’s efforts in repositioning the economy positively,” Shoga said.

He stated that youths constitute 70 per cent of Nigeria’s population, and the City Boy Movement aims to mobilise them to support the President’s work.

Shoga assured that the movement would deliver at least five million youth votes for President Tinubu from the huge voting population.

He urged participants to embark on aggressive enlightenment campaigns to educate young Nigerians about Tinubu’s agenda.

“This group will surprise the President with a massive turnout of youth votes,” Shoga declared.

The Director-General noted that Tinubu had achieved much in the areas of economy, agriculture, energy, youth inclusiveness, and empowerment.

According to him, the movement has a presence in all 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, and every local government area, with vibrant coordinators.

Speaking at the event, Mr Goodluck Nwaneri, Imo Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, praised Tinubu’s contributions under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Nwaneri said: “We have benefitted greatly and are determined to surprise Tinubu with our support in 2027.

“We shall do everything possible as ambassadors to ensure his return to power.

“He has contributed significantly to youth empowerment and has given young people a sense of belonging in the state and in Nigeria,” Nwaneri said.

He stressed that Tinubu’s efforts towards Nigerian youths were enough to merit another chance to complete his plans.

The National Coordinator of the Movement, Mr Favour Abayomi, said the group had begun state tours, supported by Grand Patron, Mr Seyi Tinubu.

Abayomi explained that the tours aim to enlighten citizens and mobilise broader support for Tinubu across the country.

Another youth leader, Mr Gideon Balogun, urged participants to start grassroots mobilisation and proactive ‘marketing’ of the President.

Ms Azizat Odubajo-Owonla, a group leader and Supervisor for Budget and Planning, Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, stressed Tinubu’s good intentions for the country.

The Vice Chairman of APC UK, Prince Bidemi Akintunde, said strategies were in place to change youths’ misperceptions about Tinubu’s initiatives.
