Okebukola urges African leaders to invest more in infrastructure

A former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Peter Okebukola, has emphasised the need for African leaders to prioritise investment in infrastructure to reduce high dependence on foreign countries.
Okebukola made the call in an interview with our reporter on Wednesday in Ota, Ogun.
According to him, investing in infrastructural development is vital to reduce the stereotypes of inferiority and ensure brighter future for African countries.
“The African leaders who prioritise infrastructure projects such as roads, electricity, internet access and transportation systems contribute to long-term economic growth and development,” he said.
He noted that modern infrastructure would show the world that Africa was progressing, and able to provide for its people without relying on external forces.
Okebukola stressed the need to promote good governance and accountability in Africa, so that the world would know that it was capable of developing strong democratic systems with a distinct African socio-cultural flavour.
