An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of a 60-year-old man, Akeem Owolabi, at a correctional centre over alleged sexual assault

Magistrate Mr L.A. Owolabi did not take the defendant’s plea. He remanded him at Kirikiri Correctional Centre, adjourning the case until July 1 for DPP advice.

Prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ikhayere, informed the court that the defendant, of No. 30 Safebirth Street, Fadeyi, allegedly committed the offence between May 5 and 7.

The incident occurred at Story Academy for Special Needs Education, located at No. 2 Arowojobe Estate, Mende, Maryland, Lagos.

Ikhayere alleged that the defendant exploited the vulnerable nature of the 18-year-old woman (name withheld).

“She was forcefully subjected to sexual intercourse without consent,” the prosecutor told the court.

The prosecution stated that the offence contravenes Section 260 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
