Presidential Visit: NSCDC deploys over 1500 officers in Makurdi

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue Command, has deployed a total of 1,550 officers and men to man strategic and sensitive points in Makurdi and environs.
The decision was taken in order to maintain peace and order during the visit of President Bola Tinubu to the state.
Our correspondent, reports that Tinubu is in Benue to commiserate with people over the recent attacks on Yelwata community, Guma Local Government Area, which left more than 200 persons dead.
Mrs Alice Bitrus, the state commandant, disclosed this to our correspondent on Wednesday in Makurdi.
Bitrus said NSCDC had positioned officers at Wurukum roundabout, High Level area, Government House roundabout, Balcony Junction, and Yelewata areas.
She said that the command was committed to its duties to ensure that the president had a smooth and safe visit.
The Commandant also stated that NSCDC and other security agencies were collaborating and working tirelessly to put an end to the senseless and unprovocative killings in the state.
Bitrus urged the general public to go about their legitimate businesses and report any suspicious activities to the command for appropriate actions.
