Police apprehend man alleged to specialise in livestock theft in Bauchi

The police command in Bauchi State says it has arrested a 25-year-old man, suspected of being a member of a gang, which specialises in stealing livestocks in Bauchi and its environs.
The command Spokesman, CSP Ahmed Wakil, made this known on Tuesday in Bauchi.
Wakil said the operation led to the recovery of three stolen cows and a green Volkswagen Sharon bus allegedly used for the crime.
He said the arrest was made on June 26, about 4:00 p.m., following an information received by police patrol team in the Turum area of Bauchi.
According to him, a swift response team, led by CSP Abdulrazak Padah, intercepted the suspect, a resident of Bolari Quarters in Gombe State.
“During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being part of a five-member syndicate involved in the theft of cows from a migrating herdsman in Tungal village in Bauchi Local Government.
“The suspect also (allegedly) named four other accomplices and disclosed that the receiver of the stolen animals is currently at large,” he said.
Wakil said the command had intensified efforts to arrest the remaining suspects, saying once investigations were concluded, all involved would be prosecuted accordingly.
