Soludo inaugurates markets, park to curb street trading in Ekwulọbịa

Gov. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has inaugurated the ‘Solution’ markets and a modern park in Ekwulọbịa, Aguata Local Government Area.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to eliminate street trading and promote urban development in the region.
Addressing traders at the event on Tuesday, Soludo explained that the facilities were part of his administration’s broader urban regeneration agenda.
“This new market is the third built by the state government to cater to specific needs and curb street trading.
“The markets are equipped with amenities to create an environment that stimulates economic activity while improving the quality of life for residents,” he said.
The governor noted that the markets would especially serve traders displaced by the ongoing construction of the Ekwulọbịa flyover, which was nearing completion.
“You find markets in all the nooks and crannies of Anambra, and this is no exception,” he added.
Soludo reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Anambra into a modern urban state comparable to global cities.
“If we are aspiring to become like Dubai or Taiwan, we must lay a solid foundation. Our people must enjoy minimum pleasure,” he stated.
Also speaking at the event, Chief Evarist Ubah, Special Adviser to the Governor on Markets, said the establishment of the Solution markets and park marked the full urbanisation of the Ekwulọbịa community.
In his remarks, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike, Chairman of Aguata LGA, expressed appreciation to the governor for the project, which he said had turned the area into a developed and thriving hub.
“For us in Aguata, we will ensure efficient management of the facility, targeting to become the cleanest and best-managed market and park in the state,” Ofobuike said.
