Education Lagos to establish multi-campus university of medicine in Badagry- Commissioner

The Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr Tolani Sule said the state would establish a system multi-campus university of medicine in Badagry, to enhance development in the ancient town.

Sule disclosed this during the inauguration of the newly remodeled Badagry Town Hall at valedictory event for the outgoing chairman of the council, Mr Olusegun Onilude.

Sule said the university would bring greater prospects and employment opportunities to the town.

“This will create employment opportunities for all and sundry in the town.

“Also the general hospital in the town will be upgraded to a teaching hospital,” he said.

The commissioner commended the council chairman for providing infrastructural development for the town.

“I am happy we are inaugurating this ultra modern town hall project today.
“This is not only for Badagry local government, it also cut across the two Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

“I want everyone of us in Lagos to know that Badagry remains a key factor and symbol in the state.

“Badagry is highly recognised all over the world, and for this reason, whoever will represent Badagry is carrying a huge burden.

“God has his way of rewarding his own people. Onilude, God will reward you,” he said.Sule described the outgoing chairman as a pure professional with a calm mien, who is diligent and upright.

“Onilude stood out among the twenty education secretaries while he was the Badagry education secretary before becoming the chairman,” he said.

The commissioner, who represented the Lagos State Chairman of APC, Pastor Cornelius Oyelabi urged the people of Badagry to continue to support the party.

Dr Sewedo Samuel, the Chief of Staff to the outgoing chairman expressed his satisfaction with his principal’s performance in office.

“He has given us a sense of pride because he has done well; the whole council can attest to his performance.

“For young politicians who are coming on board, we have seen and learnt from a man who has vision for progress and development of Badagry,” he said.
