Terror on Motorbikes: Gunmen massacre villagers in Imo

A night of sheer horror descended on Arondizuogu in Imo State as unidentified gunmen stormed three villages Ndi-Ejezie, Umualaoma, and Ndiakuwata Uno—in a blood-soaked rampage that reportedly left over 14 villagers brutally murdered.

The chilling attack, which unfolded between late Thursday night and early Friday morning, saw dozens of assailants riding motorcycles, unleashing unprovoked gunfire on innocent residents in a coordinated act of terror that has since gripped the community with fear and disbelief.

Eyewitnesses, too shaken to reveal their identities, described the chaos as a scene from a nightmare—bodies strewn across compounds, cries for help echoing in the darkness, and terrified families fleeing for their lives.

Disturbing footage showing lifeless victims drenched in blood has since flooded social media, igniting national outrage and condemnation.

The Imo State Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye, confirmed the barbaric assault, acknowledging seven confirmed deaths and numerous critically injured survivors. He branded the massacre as “inhumane, senseless, and unacceptable,” and revealed that initial investigations point to operatives of the proscribed IPOB/ESN as suspects.

In a swift response, Imo Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has mobilized a tactical squad to comb the affected villages, promising justice for the slain and reassurance for the terrified. “The situation is under control,” Okoye added, assuring the public of reinforced security to prevent a recurrence.

Sympathizing with grieving families, the command called for public cooperation, urging residents to report any suspicious activity via their emergency hotlines 08034773600 or 08103341610 with full confidentiality guaranteed.

As shockwaves from this heinous act ripple through the nation, the call grows louder: Justice must be swift, and peace must be restored.
