Police burst suspected cult armoury, arrest 2 in A’Ibom

The Police Command in Akwa Ibom says it has discovered suspected cult armoury and recovered firearms in Ikot Obio Ekong village in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John who disclosed this to our correspondent in Uyo on Tuesday said two suspects were arrested.

John said the operatives of the command who acted on credible intelligence on Sunday moved to Ikot Obio Ekpong village where they successfully raided the suspected cult hideout.

She said during the operation, the team recovered three locally-made pistols.

“Preliminary investigations are ongoing with the goal of arresting other suspects connected to this illegal armoury,” John said.

John said the police command was committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, adding that further developments would be communicated as they arise.
