Constituency Meeting: Obasa lauds progress on security, economic reforms

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its bold reforms and transformative projects.Obasa made this statement during the 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting held simultaneously across all 40 constituencies in Lagos State on Thursday

Our correspondent reports that the meeting was themed “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” serving as a platform to highlight the positive impacts of the administration’s policies.

Obasa, who represents Agege Constituency I highlighted the significant progress made on security, economic reforms, human capital development and infrastructure in his stewardship report.

Obasa underscored the tangible benefits of good governance while celebrating the achievements of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda” and Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s administration.

The speaker cited the government’s increased funding for security forces and the procurement of advanced military equipment which had significantly led to neutralisation of two prominent bandit leaders.

He noted the administration’s fiscal policies and revenue-generating mechanisms had boosted investor’s confidence, diversified the economy, and led to an improved credit rating.

Obasa highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), an interest-free loan initiative for tertiary students, as a significant milestone toward making higher education accessible to all qualified Nigerians.

He noted that the administration had launched transformative projects nationwide, including new road networks, upgraded ports, and state-of-the-art public facilities, reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a hub for development.

The speaker also outlined the specific contributions of the Lagos State House of Assembly under his leadership, emphasising that the Assembly had passed over 467 resolutions and several key laws aligned with the national agenda.

Obasa stated that the collaborative efforts between the executive and legislative branches, both at the state and national levels, demonstrated that good governance was a shared commitment and a promise kept to the people.

In his opening remarks, the Acting Chairman of Agege Local Government, Mr Vinod Obasa, stressed that young people were at the core of the local government’s strategy.

He detailed several key initiatives aimed at supporting youth development through sports and education.

“In Agege, we don’t just talk about youth empowerment, we act. Education remains a top priority, with 250 indigent students receiving free GCE forms to ensure financial barriers don’t stand in the way of learning.

“The local government also awarded a one million naira cash prize to the best-performing WAEC student, signaling that academic excellence is noticed and rewarded,” he stated.
