Nwifuru urges parents to dedicate more time to training girl-child

Francis Nwifuru has urged parents to dedicate more time in giving satisfactory etiquette to the girl-child for better tomorrow.

Nwifuru made this known on Thursday when Izzi Women group visited him to celebrate the 2025 Ojiji New Yam Festival at Government House Lodge, Abakaliki.

The governor, who spoke in local dialect, challenged the women to strive in instilling values and other home trainings in the girl-child to be successful in life.

“I urge women to take up the responsibility of training our girl-child to imbibed, possess good behaviour and prepare them for the real world,” he said.

The governor reiterated that the Ojiji festival, as an annual event, entail feasting with traditional meals, community bonding and strengthening of cultural identity.

He urged them to take better care of their spouses to keep the cultural values of Izzi clan for the socio- economic growth and development of the people.

In her remarks, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru appreciated the Izzi women for the visit and promised to continue touching lives through her pet project: Better Health for Rural Women, Children and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Felicia Nwankpuma and the leader of the team, Mrs Chinyere Nwogbaga promised to maintain the cultural values of Izzi Clan through proper home training to their children.

Other women leaders such as Mrs Helen Nwaobasi and Patience Ogodo commended the efforts of the current administration in women inclusiveness in governance and pledged continuous solidarity for the state government.
