Cheetah Generation Association, a youth group in Nasarawa State, has expressed support for the Minister of Women’s Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, following calls in some quarters for her removal or redeployment.

Mr Eche Amos, chairman of the association stated this at news conference on Friday in Lafia.

He described the minister as a “leader of unwavering resolve” who had demonstrated commitment to women and children through various empowerment and social development initiatives.

Amos noted that, Sulaiman-Ibrahim, who hails from Nasarawa State, previously served as Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Federal Commissioner for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, and Minister of State for Police Affairs before her current appointment.

He said that under her leadership, the ministry had introduced several programmes, including the Nigeria for Women Scale-Up Project, which targeted 4.5 million women with financial literacy and cooperative support.

“She also inaugurated a Child Rights Act Review Committee and launched a National Child Protection Framework.

“The minister has advocated for gender-responsive climate action, spearheaded clean energy campaigns to transition one million households from firewood cooking, and promoted the Special Seats Bill for Women to strengthen female representation in the legislature.

“In Nasarawa, she has supported women with sewing and grinding machines, distributed food items to vulnerable households under the Renewed Hope Year-End Intervention, and provided financial and material support to women entrepreneurs,” he said.

Amos, who is also a Public Affairs Commentator, said these interventions highlighted the impact of the minister, stressing that criticisms against her were politically motivated and not reflective of her achievements.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to rally behind the minister to enable her to continue implementing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the ministry.
