PDP’s open ticket, roadmap to nowhere, APC declares

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has slammed the PDP over “its back- and -forth” zoning arrangement for the 2027 presidential ticket.

The Spokesman, Mr Seye Oladejo, in a statement on Thursday said that the latest decision by the PDP to throw its presidential ticket open for 2027 was “a roadmap to nowhere”.

Oladejo was reacting to the recent declaration by the PDP that its presidential ticket open to all zones and , after the party had initially zoned the ticket to the South.

According to him, the latest announcement is a sign that the main opposition party is confused.

He said that the ruling APC’s growing acceptance and populatity had brought confusion to the former ruling party.

Oladejo described PDP as indecisive and lacking direction.

“It is also quite telling that the PDP conveniently forgot the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution when it initially zoned out other parts of the country from the presidency, only to hurriedly cave in under pressure from vested interests and desperate aspirants.

“The truth is simple: the larger-than-life image of the ruling APC, under the tested leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has so overwhelmed the PDP that it no longer knows whether to go left, right, or in circles.

“Nigerians who are daily witnessing APC’s reform agenda and delivery of democratic dividends have no patience for a party still trying to decide what it wants to be when it grows up,” he said.

According to him, the “open ticket” is not a sign of inclusion but a confession of weakness.

“It exposes a party torn apart by power tussles and a chronic inability to learn from its own failures.

“The PDP has become a political gambling house where every desperate politician is invited to try his luck,” Oladejo added.

He claimed PDP bungled its zoning formula in 2023, sparking defections, rancor, and “disgrace at the polls”.

“Once again, the party has chosen to throw confusion at the nation instead of presenting a coherent vision,” he said.

Oladejosaid that APC remained solidly focused on governance, stability, and reforms that will secure the future of the nation.

“For the opposition, the 2027 presidential election is already lost – not at the ballot box, but in the circus tent they call their party,” he added.
