News Flash: Enyimba International win 2018/2019 NPFL title

This is contained in a statement signed by the club’s Media Director, Samson Orji, on Monday in Aba.

Our correspondent reports that Enyimba, in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), came from a goal down to beat Bendel Insurance 3-2 at the Enyimba International Stadium on Sunday.

Goals in the 18th, 66th, and 69th minutes by Abiodun Joseph, Kalu Nweke, and Chidera Michael secured maximum points for Enyimba.

The club, however, said that the presence of the governor during the match and his words of encouragement lifted the spirits of the players.

It also said the donation, which represented N10 million for each of the goals scored, would serve as a moral booster for the club in the coming matches.

“It spurred the team to stage one of the most memorable comebacks of the NPFL season.

“The entire team is eternally grateful for the remarkable N30 million gesture, with N10 million representing each of the goals scored.

“This gesture no doubt will act as a morale booster for the forthcoming matches.

“Your uncommon motivation and generous support inspired our spirited fightback, and we are profoundly grateful for your financial reward and your fatherly love.

“We assure you that we will not relent in our quest to bring glory to Abia and our esteemed fans this season,” it said.

The club assured the governor that, with his support, they were poised to reclaim their rightful place at the summit of Nigerian and African football.

“Once again, Enyimba FC says: Thank you, Your Excellency,” it said.
