The Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa has congratulated Nigerians on the nation’s 65th Independence anniversary, stating that the difficult period is over and that Nigeria is now on course to greatness.

Obasa said this in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Research, Media, and Documentation, Mr Adeshina Oyetayo, on Wednesday in Lagos.

Our correspondent reports that the speaker was reacting to President Bola Tinubu’s Independence broadcast .

In the broadcast, Tinubu had declared that Nigeria had “turned the corner” and that the challenges that followed the implementation of his reforms were now over.

He added that the country was now on course towards economic prosperity,

‎“I am pleased to report that we have finally turned the corner. The worst is over. Yesterday’s pains are giving way to relief,” Tinubu had said.

Obasa commended Nigerians for their patience and support for the country’s reforms, saying the accompanying challenges were now over.

He said, “The economy, like President Bola Tinubu said during the Independence broadcast, has turned a corner. We are no longer where we used to be.

“The worst is behind us. The economy has stabilised and it’s strengthening.

Now, we can look forward to a Nigeria that has shaken off her lethargy and complacency.

“We are looking at Nigeria that will take with vigour and vibrancy her rightful place among developed economies of the world.”
He praised Tinubu for working hard to stabilise the economy and secure the nation.

“I also commend him for his impactful leadership and infrastructure initiatives that are fostering national renewal since assumption of office” he added.

According to him, the 2025 independence anniversary is not just a celebration of 65 years of sovereign nationhood, it is also a celebration of the nation’s diversity and dynamism.

He added that it is a celebration of unity , resilience and the achievements recorded in the last 65 years.

Referencing the theme of the 2025 celebration, “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands On Deck For A Greater Nation,” Obasa called for more prayers and support for the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu.

The speaker said the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda is the perfect panacea for Nigeria’s plethora of problems.
He urged Nigerians to come together in unity and celebrate not only the country’s past achievements but also her assured greatness.
