<strong>Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, says the Federal Government has prioritised agriculture as the backbone of Nigeria’s economy.

The minister disclosed this in his message on the occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary on Wednesday in Abuja.

Kyari said that Nigeria was steadfastly marching toward true food security and independence under the visionary leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, the Tinubu’s administration has prioritised agriculture as the backbone of our economy, implementing bold policies that empower farmers, enhance productivity, and reduce our dependence on imported food.

He noted that through initiatives like the Renewed Hope Agenda,Tinubu had mobilised resources to support smallholder farmers with improved seeds, fertilisers, and modern farming techniques.
“His unwavering commitment ensures that we no longer rely on foreign nations for our staple foods, fostering a self-sufficient Nigeria where every table is abundantly supplied by our own soil.
“In the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, we reflect on how far we have come in harnessing our vast arable lands and natural resources to feed our people.

“Independence is not only political; it is also economic and agricultural self-reliance. Let us all commit to supporting these transformative efforts as we mark this Independence Day.

“Together, with President Tinubu at the helm, Nigeria will achieve unparalleled food sovereignty, where no family goes hungry, and our granaries overflow with homegrown abundance,” he said.
