Abba Yusuf of Kano State has presented permanent and pensionable appointment letters to the 400 newly recruited Mathematics teachers for the state’s Secondary Schools.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, in Kano on Wednesday.

Yusuf described the recruitment as a direct response to subject gaps that has affected students’ performance and career readiness.

Yusuf said Mathematics was the foundation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Innovation’, and that Kano State must build a strong base to compete in a knowledge‑driven world.

He added that the new teachers would significantly enhance teaching quality, improve examination outcomes and strengthen pathways for students into STEM fields.

The Governor commended the Ministry of Education and the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB) for conducting a transparent and effective recruitment process.

Yusuf urged the new teachers to teach with passion, commitment and professionalism, stressing that they must justify the confidence placed in them.
