Adeleke says Osun residents benefiting from effective governance, dismisses opposition criticism

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed that his administration’s policies and initiatives have positively impacted every sector of the state over the past three years.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said extensive infrastructural projects and a strong focus on citizens’ welfare have defined his leadership, arguing that these efforts have restored confidence and strengthened the state’s economic outlook.

Rasheed described recent criticisms as the familiar tactics of “unrepentant opposition activists,” insisting that those attacking the government are unwilling to acknowledge the progress recorded so far. He urged residents not to be swayed by political rhetoric from individuals who, according to him, failed to improve living conditions when they previously held power.

“It is clear to anyone observing developments in Osun that Governor Adeleke has delivered. The results are visible across the state, and people are recognising the strides made under his administration,” Rasheed said.

He added that rather than attempting to distort public perception, the opposition should accept the state’s current trajectory. He contrasted the present administration with its predecessor, noting strides such as settling outstanding wage liabilities, facilitating career progression for civil servants, implementing comprehensive healthcare support for pensioners, and improving overall welfare.

Rasheed highlighted ongoing infrastructure upgrades, stating that the state is witnessing unmatched improvements, from road and bridge construction linking communities, to the renovation of healthcare facilities to meet WHO standards, and the refurbishment of public schools. He also pointed to the recent acquisition of 31 tractors to support agricultural mechanisation, saying the previous government failed to procure any during its 12-year tenure.

Dismissing commentary by former commissioner Sunday Akere as “inaccurate and misleading,” Rasheed said Akere’s past performance in government weakens his credibility in assessing the current administration.

He also rejected claims made by The Osun Masterminds group, alleging it is influenced by the opposition. Rasheed criticised its coordinator, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, suggesting his political ambitions may be colouring his judgement.

“Governance in Osun is progressing steadily. Those fixated on the politics of 2026 are the ones stirring unnecessary distractions. Governor Adeleke remains fully focused on delivering for the people and urges residents to stay vigilant against political actors who view them merely as tools for personal gain,” he said.
