Subair named board chair of the year, as LIRS emerges top revenue agency
The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has once again been recognized for excellence and leadership in public service, securing major accolades at the 2025 Peak Performer Awards in Lagos.
Executive Chairman Ayodele Subair was named “Board Chair of the Year”, highlighting his visionary leadership, strategic direction, and transformative impact on revenue administration in Lagos State. Subair also graced the cover of the 2025 edition of Peak Performer Magazine, underscoring his role in driving innovation, operational efficiency, and digital transformation within the agency.
Under Subair’s stewardship, LIRS has implemented strategic reforms, embraced technology-driven processes, and enhanced service delivery, positioning Lagos as a model for modern tax administration in Nigeria.
In a complementary achievement, LIRS itself was awarded “Peak Performing Revenue Agency”, celebrating the agency’s commitment to transparent governance, continuous improvement, and modern revenue practices that bolster Lagos State’s economic growth.

Other honorees at the event included Chief Chris O. Okunowo in the legal profession, Dr. Godwin Ehigiamusoe in financial services, Austin Avuru and Dr. Victoria A. Samson in oil and gas, Dr. John Obaro in payment services, Dr. Abiodun Adedipe and Ufot Udeme in professional services, and Prof. Chris Uwaje in information technology.
Speaking at the ceremony, Subair attributed the recognition to the collective efforts of his team, stating:

Our mission is to drive innovation, enhance efficiency, and contribute meaningfully to Lagos State’s development. We remain committed to raising standards, improving service delivery, and building a world-class revenue administration system.”
