2027: APC commences training for e-registration in Benue
Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue has commenced training for its e-registration exercise.
Declaring the exercise open on Friday at the state party secretariat in Makurdi, the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Mr Alfred Emberga, said the digital membership drive was central to the party’s victory in the 2027 general elections.
Emberga said the exercise aligns with the APC’s broader plan to reposition itself as a modern, technology-driven political organisation.
The speaker urged government appointees to prioritise party dues and commended the leadership achievements of Gov. Hyacinth Alia and President Bola Tinubu.
He further passed a vote of confidence in the leadership of Gov. Alia and President Tinubu.
In his welcome address, the state chairman of the party, Mr Benjamin Omale, said the transition to an electronic register would strengthen internal structures and improve electoral readiness.
Omale commended the governor for sponsoring the e-registration training exercise in the state.
He described the governor’s support as a demonstration of his commitment to strengthening the APC and deepening internal democratic processes in the state.
The State Coordinator of the e-registration exercise, Mr James Ornguga, said the digitalisation of the party’s membership records is vital to strengthening its foundation and enhancing operational efficiency.
“The party is on a strategic mission to count its votes before the election by digitally documenting every single member,” Ornguga said.
He urged senatorial administrators, local government supervisors, ward registration agents and other stakeholders to demonstrate diligence, adding that the work would be monitored closely at the highest levels.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the Benue Internal Revenue Service, Mr Joseph Kwaghgba, emphasised the need for teamwork, urging supervisors to work closely with ward agents to ensure that all party members are mobilised and registered.
In her closing remarks, Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Lami Danladi Ogenyi, called for strict adherence to guidelines to guarantee accuracy and uniformity during the exercise.
She urged APC members and the wider public to await further directives on the official start date of the e-registration.
It was reported that the training was facilitated by Mr Bishop Angula (Zone A Coordinator), Reuben Nyinya (Zone B Coordinator) and Mark Ochoga (Zone C Coordinator).
They took the participants through the technical processes of the e-registration platform.
