Dangote Group to top global fertilizer production by 2028
The Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has disclosed that the group will become the world’s largest producer of fertilizer by 2028.
Dangote said this while speaking at the Imo Economic Summit, organised by the Imo Government, in Owerri, on Thursday.
The business mogul and richest man in Africa said that the time had come for Africans to step on to greatness and occupy their place in world business.

He said that the Dangote Group would increase its urea production capacity from the current 3 million tons to 12 million tons by 2028, to enable it top fertilizer production in the world.
He urged Nigerians and Africans to invest at home, adding that “only a local investor can convince a foreign investor to invest in his home”.
“I recently announced that we will double investment at home, with a target of 1.4 million barrels per day, because there is no place like home.
“Africans must invest at home because that is the best way to convince a foreign investor to invest in Africa “, he said.
He thanked the President Bola Tinubu-led government for its policies and called for more investments in electric power generation.
Speaking, former President of Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, said that with a high youth population and 30 per cent of the world’s mineral reserves domiciled in Africa, the continent could lay the foundation of hope for the future.
“It is time for Africa to take her destiny in her hands,” she said.
Our correspondent reports that the summit was declared open by President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Also in attendance was former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr Ban Ki-moon.
