Edo Police ramp up security for holiday celebrations
The Edo Police Command on Friday in Benin, said that measures are on ground to enhance security operations during the yuletide season.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Monday Agbonika, disclosed this in an interview on Friday in Benin.
According to him, the command has heightened operations, generated intelligence, and conducted routine raids on criminal hideouts, all in a bid to foster security in the state.
Agbonika said that the measures also aim to nip crime in the bud, and ensure a safe environment for citizens to thrive especially during the yuletide.
He noted that the command will also charge suspects to court, so as to serve as deterence to potential criminals.
According to Agbonika, this proactive approach follows concerns over deteriorating security situations and potential spikes in crime, particularly kidnapping.
It was reported that with the Edo police command’s renewed efforts, residents are assured of improved security measures to safeguard lives and properties during the yuletide.
