How Nigeria’s democracy can thrive– NNPP
The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Ondo State Chapter, says the country’s electoral laws need to be strengthened in advancing the nation’s democratic system.
The newly elected Chairman of the chapter, Mr Peter Olagookun, said this after his inauguration on Monday in Akure.
Our correspondent reports that NNPP new executive members will oversee the party’s affairs for the next four years.
Olagookun said that for democracy to thrive in the country, the electoral laws must be reviewed periodically to give room for free and fair elections.
The chairman promised that the executive members would work in unity with a view to winning subsequent elections in the state.
According to him, the party in the state will henceforth have a formidable stance in ensuring that the state belongs to all Ondo State people.
He said that the executive team would attract more members to the party, reconcile and encourage all aggrieved members to rejoining the party.
He, therefore, commended the visions of the National Leader of the party, Sen. Rabiu Kwankaso, saying that the party was being reshaped through his encouragements.
Some of the new executive members are: Mr Olubobade Ojo, Vice Chairman (I), Mr Johnson Apata, Vice Chairman (II), Dr Tunde Olajuyigbe, Vice Chairman (III) and Mr Oluwayomi Adekunle, the Secretary.
Our correspondent also reports that all the executive members were elected unopposed.
