Yusuf receives Tinubu’s 2025 Excellence in Public Service Award

Abba Yusuf of Kano State State on Monday honoured with the 2025 Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service (NEAPS) for his administration’s achievements in education, healthcare, agriculture, urban renewal, infrastructure and social welfare.

The award, announced in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature on Monday, recognised the wide‑scale rehabilitation of schools, mass teachers’ recruitment and increased funding for public education under Yusuf.

The health sector had seen revamped primary‑care centres, upgraded hospitals and broader access to quality medical services.

Agricultural programmes had been revitalised through farmer‑support schemes, timely input distribution and strengthened extension services, while an aggressive urban‑renewal drive is restoring Kano’s status as a modern, liveable metropolis.

Yusuf received the accolade alongside counterparts from Zamfara, Bauchi, Adamawa, Enugu and Akwa Ibom.

The ceremony, organised by the Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service – an initiative of Best Media Relations in partnership with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume while retired Justice Mary Odili, the Chairman of the NEAPS Board of Trustees, presided over the event.

Other recipients included the NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa , the EFCC Chairman, the NFIU Chairman, the Comptroller‑General of Customs, the Comptroller‑General of Immigration, the Minister of Aviation, the Minister of Finance and the Director‑General of NEMA.

In his acceptance, Yusuf dedicated the award to the people of Kano State and reaffirmed his commitment to people‑centred governance and sustainable development.
