The Plateau Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mrs Hannatu Gagara, says the party is a credible alternative for good governance for the people.

Gagara stated this on Tuesday in Jos during the party’s end-of-year meeting to review its activities.

The chairman said that ADC remains a party to beat in the 2027 general elections.

She described ADC as a beautiful bride for the people that want uncommon development and wellbeing for Plateau and Nigeria.

“Your presence here today is a testament to your unwavering commitment to the ideals and vision of our great party, and for that, I sincerely thank you.

“As we gather here, we have the valuable opportunity to reflect on our collective journey over the past year.

“Despite the numerous challenges confronting our state and nation, the ADC in Plateau has continued to grow in strength, structure, and relevance.

“This progress is a direct result of your dedication, sacrifices, and steadfast belief in our shared mission: to build a truly democratic, inclusive, and people-orientated platform.

“This meeting is not only a review of our past activities but also a strategic forum to chart the way forward,” she said.

Gagara encouraged all participants to contribute constructively, speak freely, and offer innovative ideas that will strengthen the party and position it to capture power in 2027.

The chairman assured the stakeholders that the State Working Committee remains firmly committed to transparency, unity, and collective leadership.

“Together, we shall continue to build a formidable ADC, one that offers credible alternatives and purposeful leadership for the good people of Plateau.

“In 2025, a fundamental focus was placed on expanding and consolidating our membership base. These efforts significantly increased our grassroots outreach.

“Recognising the importance of unity and strength in numbers, we actively pursued and cultivated coalitions with like-minded political entities and interest groups.

“These alliances are instrumental in enhancing our political leverage and ensuring broader representation in electoral contests and policy advocacy.

“Strategic outreach was undertaken to foster relationships with key political figures, reinforcing the party’s national relevance and influence,” she added.

Alhaji Ado Dati, an elder of the party, commended the efforts of the Gagara-led state working committee for its efforts to build the party into a formidable force.

Dati expressed confidence that the ADC is firmly on course to provide the quality leadership that Plateau people have been yearning for.

Mr Boniface Dongjap, who spoke for the southern zone, said in his remarks the people were craving an alternative that would boost the economy of the state.

Dongjap lauded the party leadership for fending off all distractions that were meant to inhibit the growth of the party.

Mr Manasseh Watyil of the central zone charged the party members not to keep the good news to themselves.

Watyil urged to ensure that more people join the party for the good of the state.
