Tinubu has done very well for his reelection in 2027- Onuigbo
A former federal lawmaker, Chief Sam Onuigbo, has expressed strong optimism about the reelection of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
He said this in an interview with newsmen on Sunday during his family thanksgiving at St. Paul’s Methodist Church Obuohia Obi-Ibere in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia.
Onuigbo said that his conviction was based on the fact that the president had taken far-reaching decisions that were focused towards repositioning the country for prosperity, growth and security.
Onuigbo, who is representing the South-East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission, admitted that the country was facing some challenges.
He said that the people should also acknowledge that Tinubu had been able to pilot the affairs of the country successfully in his two year of service.
Onuigbo said: “I have no doubt whatsoever that in 2027 Tinubu will be reelected as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The fact from the National Bureau of Statistics shows that prices of food items have been coming down steadily and that has been validated. Also, inflation has come down and he has been able to unify the foreign exchange rates.
“Interesting, nobody has gone in search of fuel with Jerry cans throughout this festive period. These are upward economic movements. So, I’m convinced that he will be reelected.”
Onuigbo, a two-term representative for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency of Abia, said that the thanksgiving was in honour of God’s mercies on him and his family.
He said that God had protected and elevated him and members of family from their humble beginnings.
“We have been through a lot including series of political challenges, but in all these God saw us through and that is why we have cone to show him gratitude,” he said.
Onuigbo, also a former Commissioner for Lands as well as Finance, pledged to rebuild the church in his community, in appreciation of God’s blessings in his life.
In his sermon, the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr Oliver Aba, admonished the congregration to always show gratitude to God in their lives.
Aba, who narrated the story of the 10 Lepers in the Gospel of Luke Chapter 17, said that God always cherished a grateful heart.
He urged the people to emulate Onuigbo’s gesture of thanksgiving and recognition of his humble beginning.
Our correspondent reports that dignitaries including the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, Senator for Abia Central, Austin Akobundu and many others were present at the occasion.
