THE GIFT A FAMILY REPORT – initiative Overview

The AbikeAmosun Foundation implemented a community empowerment initiative focused on
value addition, product packaging training, and food support for widows, elderly persons, and
families. The initiative combined skills training with the distribution of Christmas food packages
to support vulnerable households during the festive period.

The activity took place in Itori, Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State.
Objectives of the Initiative
The initiative was designed to:
● Support widows, aged persons, and families with essential food items
● Equip village women involved in small-scale trading with practical skills on product
improvement and packaging
● Encourage better presentation of locally made products to improve sales and income
● Provide relief and encouragement to vulnerable members of the community during the
Christmas season
Key Activities
1. Value Addition and Product Packaging Training
● Practical sessions were held for village women engaged in small businesses.
● Training focused on improving product quality, simple packaging techniques, hygiene,
and presentation.
● Participants were guided on how better packaging can help their products attract more
buyers.
2. Christmas Gift and Food Package Distribution
● Over 150 food packages were distributed to widows, elderly individuals, and families.
● Each package contained essential food items aimed at supporting households during the
festive period.
