APC e-registration crucial for planning, accountability, says Hamzat

Lagos State Deputy Gov. Obafemi Hamzat says the All Progressives Congress (APC) members’ e-registration will ensure proper planning and accountability within the party.

Hamzat said this in an interview with journalists after participating in the exercise alongside his wife, Oluremi, at Ward A4, Oke Balogun, Epe, on Wednesday.

The deputy governor said that accurate data on party members was crucial for effective planning and mobilisation by APC.

“What our party is doing is to make sure that we know our numbers.

“The e-registration is important for accurate data in ensuring proper planning and accountability within the party.

“By having a clean and reliable database, the APC can effectively mobilise its members and make informed decisions.

“In a family, the father or the mother must know the number of children, you must know the number of siblings living with you; that is how you can plan,” he said.

Hamzat added that the e-registration would enable the party to revalidate its manual data and have accurate information on the number of registered members in each ward.

“Through this e-registration, I can sit in my room or in my office and check the number of our party members.

“Also, if we want to plan, we can plan based on those numbers. That s basically what we are trying to do, to make sure that it is clean,”

On the impact the exercise will have on the 2027 general elections, Hamzat said that, with accurate data on APC members, the party could effectively mobilise its supporters and increase its chances of success in the election.

He said: “Election is about people. Election is about mobilisation; so, if you have your base well mobilised, you are setting yourself up for success.

“In politics, mobilisation is key. If you know your numbers, you can plan effectively and turn out your supporters on election day.

Our correspondent reports that the e-registration began on Jan. 5 in all wards across Nigeria.

They include APC chieftains, women groups and youths.
