A Kaduna State High Court sitting in Kafanchan, on Thursday remanded a farmer, Bulus Umaru, in a Kafanchan Correctional Facility for allegedly defiling two 3-year-old girls.

The Judge, Mr Michael Eugene, who refused the defendant’s bail application, ordered that he be remanded, pending the hearing of the case.

Eugene adjourned the case until March 5, for trial

The defendant is facing a two-count charge of abduction and defilement.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Earlier, the State Counsel, Mr Daniel Isah, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec. 18, 2025 at Zunuruk in Kaura Local Government area of Kafanchan.

Isah alleged that the defendant abducted the girls, took them to his room and defiled them.

He said that the defendant was caught by some neighbours, who handed him over to the police.

The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to assemble his witnesses.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 215 and 209 of the Kaduna State Penalty Code.
