We “ll not hold PDP for another party to be in power in 2027 – Makinde
Seyi Makinde has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State would not be part of any agreement to hold the party down for another party to win power at the centre in 2027.
Makinde stated this on Tuesday at the inauguration of a newly built PDP Secretariat in Oyo State located at Oke-Ado, Ibadan, courtesy of the governor.
The governor said that he was yoked with some individuals in 2023 that saw to the emergence of the other party in the presidential election, “but now, I’ve repented. I will not go again.
“But for them to hold PDP for another party to be in power, it is no, no, no,” he said.
Makinde attributed the crisis rocking his party to the handiwork of few individuals in PDP.
He said that the individuals were expelled from the party in November 2025.
“So whatever it is that they are doing, you should be able to trace it back to their origin,” Makinde said.
Speaking on the party’s court cases, the governor said he had absolute trust in the nation’s judiciary, saying the court will do the needful.
He stressed that judiciary being the last hope of the common man would give justice to the “PDP”.
Highlights of the event was the handing over of the newly built structure’s documents, named after the former state chairman of the party, Alhaji Omokunmi Mustapha, to the court nullified factional national PDP chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Turaki.
Turaki, in his remarks, appreciated Makinde for the building and his efforts towards the growth of the party.
Our correspondent reports that a Federal High Court in Ibadan had on Jan. 30 nullified the party’s convention held in Ibadan in Nov. 15 and Nov. 16, 2025 that brought in Turaki as chairman.
