FG reaffirms commitment to educational advancement

The Federal Government has on Monday, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing and promoting inclusive education in Nigeria.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said this while declaring open a stakeholder roundtable on the future of education in Nigeria, in Abuja.

The minister who was represented by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, spoke on the theme, “”Re-imagining the future of Education in Nigeria collaborative solutions for a brighter tomorrow” .

He noted that education remained the roadmap to global inclusivity and life’s accomplishment.

“”Education under the renewed hope agenda is a veritable tool for national development,

“”I commend the House of Representatives for giving education the expected legislative support,” he said

Alausa said the roundtable was an opportunity to address emerging challenges in education sector

He lauded the 10th Assembly for providing quality education, inclusive education and digital education through legislative solutions.

Also speaking in a panel session, the chairman, House Committee on Alternative Education, Rep. Aliyu Mustapha, said that the committee was giving attention to half-educated Nigerians, adding that the rate of out-of-school children in the country is alarming

“A shift from conventional education to alternative education is critical to address the challenge at this point,” he said.

He emphasised the need to give attention to teachers’ welfare, by ensuring that they receive good wages for motivation and quality service delivery.

In the same vein, Rep. Muktar Shagaya, expressed determination of the House to improve education and literacy ratio in Nigeria, through quality oversights.
