Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has urged Nigerians to pray for President Bola Tinubu and all those in authority, saying that “Leadership is divinely ordained”.

The governor made the call when the Founder of Manner Prayer Mountain Ministry Worldwide, Dr Chris Kwakpovwe, visited him at the Government House in Asaba on Friday.

Oborevwori said Nigerians should uphold prayer, unity and collective responsibility as indispensable pillars for national stability and sustainable development.

He said that leadership thrives best when supported with prayers and the goodwill of the people.

The governor described leadership as divinely ordained, urging citizens to pray continually for those in authority, including Tinubu.

He said that governance succeeds, not merely by human strength but by divine guidance.

According to him, when leaders succeed, the people ultimately benefit.

He said that unity remains critical to progress, warning that development cannot flourish in an atmosphere of division.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance, pledging continuous engagement with communities, assessment of their needs and the execution of policies that deliver tangible development across the state.

“As a government, our focus remains faithful service and meaningful development,” he said.

He added that sustained prayer and cooperation would keep both the state and the nation on a forward trajectory.

Kwakpovwe, accompanied by his wife and other clergy members of his ministry, had earlier disclosed that he considered it a sacred duty to pray for those in positions of authority.

The Christian leader, who also authors ‘Our Daily Manner (ODM) Devotional’, cited biblical injunctions that mandated believers to uphold leaders in prayer for wisdom, strength and sound judgment.

Reflecting on the devotional’s 26-year journey, he described it as a divine assignment that began from humble beginnings, growing through consistency, sacrifice and grace.

He recalled seeing early editions of the devotional and watching it steadily evolve into a global spiritual companion for families and believers.

Kwakpovwe appreciated the governor’s impactful and people-centred leadership, describing him as the best governor.

He then affirmed his unwavering commitment to uphold him continually in prayers.
