Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State on Thursday inaugurated roads and water projects in Akure metropolis as part of activities marking the first anniversary of his administration.

Our correspondent reports that some of the projects inaugurated include the Igoba township road and Alagbaka Extension road.

Aiyedatiwa, who will be one year in office on Feb. 24, described the occasion as joyful and symbolic.

The governor said the projects were critical infrastructure initiatives that would connect communities, facilitate commerce and improve the living conditions of residents.

He described the Igoba township road as a reference point for his administration’s infrastructural agenda, noting its importance in linking communities, supporting trade and driving socio-economic development.

“These projects are critical infrastructure initiatives that connect communities, facilitate commerce and reflect our commitment to delivering the dividends of good governance,” he said.

Aiyedatiwa said within his first year in office, his administration had recorded progress in education, healthcare, agriculture, security and other sectors.

“Farmers have been empowered, small businesses supported and infrastructure enhanced, providing a strong foundation for sustainable development and a viable economy,” he said.

While inaugurating the Alagbaka extension road, the governor described it as a strategic project designed to improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion and enhance the functionality of the Alagbaka axis.
“The importance of this road cannot be overemphasised. It links adjoining streets and estates with major access routes and provides alternative access to Akure Airport,” he said.

He said the road was executed based on standard engineering specifications, including pavement thickness, drainage and load-bearing capacity for durability.

In his goodwill message, the Obaloogun of Igoba, Oba John Adeniyi Adinlewa, commended Aiyedatiwa for fulfilling his promise on the Igoba road.

Also, the Chairman of Alagbaka Extension Landlords Association, Mr Fred Ojo, described the project as embodying the spirit of progress, noting that it had transformed the area into a functional and accessible community.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Abiola Olawoye, said the governor had fulfilled his promise to prioritise infrastructure, especially road projects.
