Disu’s appointment strategic to tackling security challenges – Okei-Odumakin
The President, Centre for Change, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, has described Mr Tunji Disu’s appointment as the Inspector-General of Police as a strategic move to address the nation’s security challenges.
Okei-Odumakin said this in a statement made available to our correspondent on Friday in Lagos.
She described Disu as a “round peg” for the job due to his impressive track record in tackling crime.
She said: “there is no doubt that this time around, President Bola Tinubu put a round peg in a round hole to confront the nation’s lingering security crisis.”
Okei-Odumakin recounted Disu’s achievements as the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command, where he reduced crime to the barest minimum between 2015 and 2021.
She noted that his tenures as the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory and Rivers State also showcased his crime-fighting abilities.
“Again, when he took over the mantle of leadership at the Intelligence Response Team, from Abba Kyari, he operated quietly and seamlessly from behind the scenes to discharge his duties professionally.
“We are confident that the new I-G will exhibit the required vim and vigour to demonstrate to the traumatised citizenry that the security of the people is the primary purpose for government,” she said.
