Umaru Bago of Niger has reiterated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration remains committed to upholding the principles of equity, justice, and fairness to ensure the progress of the state and the party.

Bago made this known during the state congress of the APC to elect new leaders to pilot the affairs of the party in the state on Tuesday.

The governor said the party conducted what he described as the best and most peaceful congress in the country.

Bago tasked the newly affirmed APC party executive leadership to remain united and work as one family.

On officials whose names were removed from the list, Bago explained that the decision was taken in good faith, adding that their tenure had expired after about 15 years in office.

He assured that they would be compensated with appointments to represent the state.

Bago also assured members of the APC in the state of his resolve to operate an open-door policy, where members with genuine complaints could reach him for amicable resolution in the overall interest of the party.

He commended members of the National Assembly, the Congress Committee and other APC stakeholders for their support in nominating the new executive through what he described as a peaceful and transparent process devoid of rancour.

Earlier, the North Central Vice-Chairman of the APC, Muazu Rijau thanked the governor for ensuring that the ward, local government and state congresses were peaceful and successful, while keeping the APC flag flying high in the state.

In separate remarks, Sen. Abubakar Bello, Aliyu Abdullahi, Minister of State for Agriculture and Sen. Sani Musa, said the APC in Niger remained united and committed to discharging its duties diligently in line with constitutional provisions.

Among those affirmed by the Chairman of the Congress Committee, Danladi Abubakar, were Aminu Musa Bobi as Chairman and Dr Adamu Gane as Secretary.
