The Commissioner of Police (CP), Lagos State Command, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, on Monday, enjoined female officers to sustain their dedication to service community welfare and team spirit.

Jimoh made this known, during celebration of the 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD) by the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA).

The event held at POWA Hall in Ikeja, had the theme “Give To Gain.”

He emphasised the importance of selflessness, discipline, and humanitarian support.

The commissioner highlighted the achievements of the command in fostering community relations and supporting vulnerable groups.

He noted that over the years, the police had prioritised initiatives that go beyond law enforcement, including programs that provide assistance to underprivileged citizens.

“By international and national standards, some initiatives are designed to include only selected members, but in Lagos, our efforts have always been inclusive.

“The principle of giving is central to both major religions, Islam and Christianity, and this year, we were blessed to carry out these acts of service during Ramadan,” he said.

Jimoh praised female officers for their dedication, especially those who contributed their personal time and resources to community service without expecting compensation.

He noted that such acts of selflessness, strengthen the legacy of service in the police force, and builds public trust.

Highlighting ongoing humanitarian efforts, the commissioner explained that, in collaboration with the Public Service Office (PSO), the police distributed food items to over 100 recipients, including vulnerable members of society.

“This is part of our ‘Give to Gain’ campaign, and the spirit of giving has a multiplying effect; impacting both the giver and the recipient,” he said.

He acknowledged the role of women in the police and community initiatives, and commended their commitment and contributions to maintaining security and promoting societal welfare.

The CP urged officers to work as a team in supporting community programs and upholding ethical standards in all areas of service.
