Total capital importation rises to $6,443.48m in Q4 2025
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says total capital importation in Nigeria stood at 6,443.48 million dollars in quarter four(Q4) 2025.
The NBS said in its Nigeria Capital Importation Q4 2025 report released in Abuja on Friday.
The report said the Q4 figure was higher than the 5,089.16 million dollars recorded in Q4 2024, indicating an increase of 26.61 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
“When compared to the preceding quarter, capital importation also increased by 7.13 per cent from 6,014.77 million dollars in Q3 2025.”
It said the largest capital importation during the period was received from Portfolio Investment at 5,486.03 million dollars, which accounted for 85.14 per cent of total capital imported in Q4 2025.
The report said this was followed by Other Investment with 599.65 million dollars, accounting for 9.31 per cent.
It said that Foreign Direct Investment recorded the least with 357.80 million dollars, accounting for 5.55 per cent of total capital importation in Q4 2025.
According to report, the banking sector recorded the highest inflow with 3.850 million dollars, representing 59.75 per cent of the total capital imported in Q4 2025.
“This was followed by the Financing sector at 1.942 million dollars, representing 30.15 per cent, and the Production/Manufacturing sector with 308.93 million dollars, representing 4.79 per cent.”
The report said Capital Importation by Country of Origin revealed that capital from the United Kingdom ranked top with 3.733 million dollars, accounting for 57.94 per cent of the total capital imported.
This was followed by the United States of America with 837.91 million dollars (13.00 per cent ) and the Republic of South Africa with 516.96 million dollars (8.02 per cent).
It said Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC received the highest capital importation into Nigeria in Q4 2025, with 2.228 million dollars, accounting for 34.58 per cent.
This was followed by Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Ltd with 1.852 million dollars (28.75 per cent ) and Citibank Nigeria Ltd with 840.72 million dollars (13.05 per cent).
