Tinubu steering Nigeria in right direction — Gov. Aliyu

Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has reaffirmed that President Bola Tinubu is placing Nigeria on a positive and progressive path through purposeful leadership.

Aliyu made the remark on Monday, while speaking at the 2026 Caliphate Bar Law Week held in Sokoto.

He commended President Tinubu’s leadership style, describing it as diligent and patriotic.

“The President has been piloting the affairs of the nation diligently and patriotically. He is putting Nigeria on a positive and right path,”the governor said.

Aliyu described the Law Week as a significant event and reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting the rule of law.

He stated that his government has maintained a cordial relationship with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and has intensified efforts to strengthen the administration of justice in the state.

The governor, who was honoured with the NBA award of “Exceptional Leadership,” expressed appreciation for the recognition, pledging that it would motivate him to do more for both the association and the people of Sokoto state.

Also speaking, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Lateef Fagbemi, commended the harmonious relationship among the three tiers of government in the state, noting that such cooperation is essential for development.

He said that the relationship is worthy of emulation, noting that development can only be achieved in such a friendly atmosphere.

Fagbemi also acknowledged what he described as “a mature governance structure in Sokoto state.”

The Minister of State for Works, Alhaji Bello Goronyo, praised the NBA for its role in promoting the rule of law, and acknowledged the consistent support it enjoys from the state government.

In his remarks, the Chief Judge of Sokoto, Justice Mohammed Sifawa, lauded the NBA for its invaluable contributions to the advancement of the rule of law and the administration of justice.

He also commended the governor for his strong support to both the Bar and the Bench, describing it as significant and impactful.

Earlier, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Nasir Binji, appreciated the governor for entrenching financial prudence and accountability in governance.

Binji added that Aliyu has prioritised the welfare of staff in the Ministry of Justice and other judicial officers.

The Chairperson of the NBA in the state, Mrs Rasheedat Muhammad, commended the governor for his sustained support to the association and for fostering a cordial relationship between the Bar and the state government.

Our correspondent reports that the major highlight of the event was the launch of the Caliphate Law Journal, with Gov. Aliyu donating Nine million towards the initiative.
