We’re reaching out to aggrieved members for genuine reconciliation – PDP National Chairman
Abdulraman Mohammed, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike-backed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, says the party is reaching out to aggrieved members for genuine reconciliation.
Mohammed stated this at the party’s 87th Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting on Monday in Abuja.
He said that the party would not just welcome the aggrieved members people back into its fold, but with a sense of belonging and shared purpose.
Emphasising the need for unity among party members, Mohammed urged them to move as one force and set aside personal interest.
“Let us set aside personal grievances for the collective survival and success of our great party.
“Politics is a game of interests, but we must never let those interests supersede our mission.
“The National Working Committee (NWC) is committed to a genuine and transparent reconciliation process.
“We are reaching out to every aggrieved member across all wards and zones. We do not just want people back in the fold; we want them back with a sense of belonging and a shared purpose,” he said.
Mohmmed stressed the need for discipline, loyalty and adherence to party constitution, saying that unity without discipline was merely a temporary truce.
“To remain a viable alternative for the people, we must uphold the sanctity of our constitution.
“Loyalty to the party’s decisions is non-negotiable. Internal grievances must be channelled through the proper constitutional organs, not the pages of newspapers,” he added.
Mohammed expressed the party’s commitment to grassroots mobilisation strengthening, especially at polling units level while leveraging on technology membership drive and voters’ engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We are not just preparing to contest, we are preparing to lead. Let us leave this room with a renewed spirit of sacrifice and a commitment to victory,” he said.
In his address, the party’s Board of Trustee (BoT) Chairman, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, called on members and leaders across all levels to embrace genuine reconciliation.
Ohuabunwa noted that the party’s national convention had come and gone, stressing stressing that what must now remain should be one united party.
“It has restored confidence within our ranks and sent a strong message to Nigerians that PDP is back, stronger, more united and ready to play its historic role in the democratic development of our country.
“However, while we celebrate this success, we must also recognise that the work ahead is even more critical.
“At this crucial post-convention stage, our duty is clear: we must ensure that the gains of the convention are not lost to division, misunderstanding or avoidable conflicts. Unity must now be our watchword,” he said.
Ohuabunwa noted that the party leaders and members had a collective responsibility to move PDP forward.
“We must deliberately reach out, bring everyone on board and ensure that no stakeholder feels alienated.
“The strength of our party has always been in our inclusiveness, our diversity and our ability to accommodate differing views while remaining one united family,” he said.
According to him, the state of PDP today calls for vigilance, discipline and strategic focus, emphasising the need for guarding against complacency.
He said that the successful conduct of the party’s convention did not mean the journey was complete, but that the real work had just begun.
“We must strengthen our internal structures, deepen internal democracy and reinforce adherence to our constitution.
“Discipline, loyalty and respect for due process must remain the foundation upon which we build.
“Furthermore, we must begin to reposition our party in the eyes of Nigerians.
“Our people are looking for credible leadership, clear direction and a party that truly represents their aspirations. We must rise to that expectation,” he said.
Ohuabunwa tasked party leaders on inclusivity, strict adherence to the rule of law and respect for the party constitution and supremacy, and ensuring that due process guide their decisions and actions at all times.
“Let us rise above personal interests and place the collective good of the party above all else.
“Let us work together to rebuild trust, strengthen our structures and reposition our party as the credible alternative that Nigerians are yearning for,” he said.
