Sen.Osita Ngwu, Senate Minority Whip (PDP-Enugu), has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Our correspondent reports that the defection of Ngwu representing Enugu West Senatorial District was announced in letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, at plenary on Wednesday.

Ngwu in his letter said that he was resigning from the PDP that sponsored his election to the senate to APC due to internal crisis in the party.

He said: “I write to notify the distinguished senate of my resignation from PDP and also notification of my membership of the APC.”

He said that the crisis in the PDP has made it impossible for him to actualise the aspirations of his senatorial district.
“Consequently, I have chosen to align myself with the progressive values of the APC, the only stable platform currently in Nigeria and to support the empowering agenda of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and my state governor, who is also in APC.

“I offer my sincere gratitude to the former PDP and wish the party were able to put its house in order.”

Our corespondent further reports that following Ngwu’s defection, Akpabio announced that Sen.Tony Nwoye (ADC -Anambra) is now the new Minority Whip of the Senate.

Similarly, Sen. Aliyu Wadada, Chairman Senate Committee on Public Accounts, formally announced his defection from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to the APC.

His defection was announced in a letter also read by Akpabio at plenary.
