The AIG in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, has unveiled new policing reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening security across Lagos and Ogun states.

Jimoh disclosed the reforms during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja.

This is contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson of Zone 2 Command, DSP Gbenga Afolayan, on Tuesday in Lagos.

The AIG, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr Fatai Tijani, and members of the zonal management team, formally introduced himself to the governor as the newly posted AIG in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters.

Speaking during the visit on Monday, Jimoh appreciated the Lagos State Government for its continuous support to the police, particularly in the areas of logistics, operational support and welfare initiatives geared towards enhancing effective policing and crime prevention.

He noted that some of the achievements recorded within the zone had contributed significantly to reducing crime and criminality while sustaining peace, security and public safety across Lagos and Ogun.

The AIG said reforms introduced since assuming office include a complete ban on the transfer of cases from state commands to the zone as part of efforts to improve service delivery and operational effectiveness.

Jimoh also informed the governor that the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, had approved the creation of seven additional police divisional headquarters in Lagos State following recommendations he made while serving as Commissioner of Police in the state.

He reassured residents of the commitment of Zone 2 Headquarters to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and ensuring a safer environment for all.

In his remarks, Gov. Sanwo-Olu described the visit as a homecoming, recalling Jimoh’s previous service as Commissioner of Police in Lagos.

The governor described Zone 2 Headquarters as one of the foremost police zones in the country and expressed confidence in the AIG’s leadership, professionalism and work ethic.

Sanwo-Olu also commended the ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force, especially the approval of additional divisional headquarters in the state, noting that the development would bring policing closer to the people and strengthen public confidence in the police.

He assured the police of the continued support and cooperation of the Lagos State Government towards improving security architecture and ensuring safer communities across the state.
