Senate: Adefuye, others endorse Abiru for second term ahead of 2027 polls

Some leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Somolu have endorsed the candidacy of Sen. Tokunbo Abiru,representing Lagos East Senatorial district, for a second term declaring total support for his victory in the 2027 general elections.

The APC leader endorsed during the Lagos East Senatorial District party’s primary election held at Shepard Girls High School, Obanikoro, Lagos, on Monday.

Sen. Anthony Adefuye, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and apex leader in Somolu, said that Abiru had distinguished himself through quality representation and impactful projects across the district.

Adefuye said that the lawmaker had demonstrated commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment and infrastructural advancement.

He added that his performance had earned him widespread acceptance among party faithful and residents.

The APC chieftain urged party members to remain united and committed toward ensuring APC’s continued dominance in the state and at the national level.

Mr Peter Oyewusi, Chairman of All Apex Leaders in Somolu/Bariga, commended Abiru for his accessibility and effective engagement with constituents.

Oyewusi said the senator had consistently carried party leaders and stakeholders along in his legislative activities and constituency programmes.

According to him, the endorsement reflects the collective confidence of party leaders in Abiru’s capacity to sustain quality representation and attract more developmental projects to the district.

Mrs Bukola Adedeji, Chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area, said that Abiru had contributed to human capital development and had positively impacted lives and the district.

She said the senator’s intervention programmes in education, entrepreneurship and community development had continued to uplift the standard of living of the people.

Adedeji called on APC members to mobilise support for the senator ahead of the 2027 elections.

She added that continuity would further strengthen ongoing developmental initiatives in the district.

Mr Abdulateef Ashimi, Chairman of Somolu Local Government, said the endorsement was a reflection of the confidence reposed in Abiru by party stakeholders across the constituency.

Ashimi added that the senator had remained loyal to the ideals of the APC and committed to delivering democratic dividends to the people.

He assured that party leaders in Somolu and Bariga would continue to work together to ensure victory for the APC in the forthcoming general elections in 2027.
